Summer is right around the corner; it is already hot here in Charlotte, NC! I have been so busy lately, moved into a new house, working, designing, cleaning, etc etc etc. Plus I had some scary things happening with my computer! So please excuse the short hiatus from my blog, I am now back up and running and all is in order!
I know when seasons change, I want to change up some of the products I am using. 100% Pure is a cosmetics and body care brand that uses fruit pigments as well as all natural and organic ingredients in their products. I had tried a few things from them before and was super impressed! The coffee scrub is one of my all time favorites, and so great in the winter time. I have heard that using a coffee scrub can help reduce cellulite, have any of you had results with this? Anyway, I stopped by Beauty Brands (it is kind of like Ulta) in Charlotte, and was so thrilled when I saw that they carried 100% Pure Cosmetics ! Seriously, I was thrilled. As many of you know, I am a very committed vegetarian/sometimes vegan of over 10 years, and am very committed to using natural products. The biggest overhaul I am yet to do is with my cosmetics. I always buy cruelty-free, but truly natural? I think many of the big-box brands tend to lie to us. So I am on a mission to now only buy products and makeup that is cruelty-free as well as natural. I think many people are convinced that these natural products won’t perform the way they are used to a conventional product performing, and be it a man or a woman, we need to know where to find natural products that perform!
So, without further ado…here is my in depth review of the things I purchased from Beauty Brands as well as a link to my youtube video! You guys should watch it!
100% Pure Superfruits Healthy Foundation – White Peach – Light with warm undertones $45.00
So, before my skin had some acne issues a few years back (all cleared up now, thank goodness!), I was a big user of liquid foundations. I’m talking full coverage, with loads of concealer, powder, caked on foundation. I think for me, I always just thought I needed it. I thought that it made my face look it’s ‘best’, due to the fact that I have genetic dark circles under my eyes, some hyper-pigmentation, and just all around not blemish-free skin. However, I realized that caking this product on my face wasn’t helping anything, and very much clogging my pores worse than they already were. So, I did an overhaul and with some pressure from my dermatologist, decided to no longer use heavy liquid foundation and let my face heal. I have tried a few different pressed powder mineral based foundations, and have found some things that work well for me. When I saw this, I immediately wanted to try it because it had been so long since I had worn liquid foundation.
Price wise, it is what I expected for a high performing natural foundation. I did find that only a couple pumps covered my whole face. I am hoping I will get a lot of wear out of it!
Here it is fresh out of the bottle on my skin. You can see it looks quite light, but once blended, as you see below, it spreads extremely well! I was highly impressed with that.
Overall, I really like this foundation. It is definitely more full-coverage than I wear on a daily basis, but this will be a great event /night out foundation for me. Color wise, it is a very good match for when I am at my pale-est. I have quite warm/golden undertones so sometimes light foundations tend to look super pink when they oxidize. I used a damp beauty blender to blend it out, and it looks pretty flawless on the skin. It does dry quickly, probably due to the fact that it is all natural, so you have to move fast. The finish is very much matte, which I like. When reading the ingredients, the first thing I see is aloe leaf juice, which is super hydrating. Everything is derived from plant sources. I didn’t have any noticeable irritation with this product, which is good considering I have very temperamental sensitive skin. It does also have SPF 20, which is great for the skin. The only downside I see is the available color range – only 8 shades. Let me know if you have tried this foundation and found a good color match!
100% Pure Pressed Powder Blush -Chiffon – $35.00
Let me tell y’all, I am obsessed with this blush. Seriously, I can’t get enough of it. I want every color they make! No jokes, at all. When I bought this I kind of thought wow that is a fairly expensive blush, it better be good….it is! A little goes a long way, and it feels like butter on your skin! the texture is so soft and creamy, even though it is a powder product. Color wise, this is a fairly standard coral-pink, but I love it. Gives an amazing rosy glow. From their website, it looks like they have about 13 available shades of this blush, so a lot of options for different skin tones. However, I feel like this shade would really flatter just about anyone! Plus the packaging is adorable. How can you not love that?
100% Pure Rose Hydrosol – Rose water facial mist – $15.00
Makeup setting spray, facial refresher, this product can really do a lot of things, and literally there is one ingredient. 100% Rose Flower water. This unfortunately to me isn’t a grab and go product, only because the bottle is glass, and I would be afraid I would break it while out and about. But, it is a great makeup setting spray, or just a natural face perfume spray. The smell is lovely, and not overpowering. Also I found it did not really affect the makeup I had on. Plus, super great price point for the amount of product you get in the bottle. I’m really loving it. I used to use the Evian water face spray, and haven’t in a long time, so hopefully this could replace that for me.
100% Pure Honey Almond Shower Gel and Body Lotion – $19.00 each
I have a thing with lotion; it can’t be sticky. I hate that feeling of my hand clinging to my arm due to some bad lotion. Because of this, I tend to use dry oil sprays instead of lotion. I took a leap and tried these because I was out of shower gel, and had liked the coffee lotion I tried before. Both are great! The body wash suds up quite nicely in the shower even though it doesn’t have any sulfates or detergents. Also, the smell is lovely. However, it doesn’t linger too long. I am okay with that. I hate those awful chemical, fake smelling body washes. This smells like almond cake. Real almond cake. The lotion is awesome, great texture, great feeling on the skin, and actually is vegan despite the honey fragrance. I was perplexed by this at first, but after reading the ingredients, I see they use Honeysuckle flower instead of honey in this product. The body wash however, is not completely vegan.
** I also purchased a lipstick, but didn’t do a review in text due to me talking about it quite a lot in the video. However, it is amazing!
Overall, good products and would definitely purchase again! Although the price point may not be in everyone’s budget, I think if you read the ingredient list on these products and cosmetics, you will understand. Instead of a bunch of synthetic fillers and parabens, the ingredients come from real plant based sources, and isn’t that amazing! So for me, the ingredients justify the price for sure. And with the color payoff, I see getting a lot of use out of the cosmetics.
You can buy all of these products and many more on their website! Let me know what you guys think of this brand and if you would want to try them. And watch my video below! Don’t forget to subscribe! 🙂
